equipment
All equipment that we install is tried and tested and of the highest quality.
Some of the details below are quite technical in nature and have been provided to illustrate the superior nature of the equipment.
As an end user you do NOT need to know about computers, cameras, networks, or routers in great detail. We install, configure and test everything for you - leaving you to just use it as required.
Network cameras
Our network cameras contain high quality CCDs for superior picture quality. They are fully self-contained units with their own web server and network interface embedded inside them.
They do not require connection to a computer - they connect directly to a network router.
We install models with either a standard RJ45 network connection or a wireless networking interface.
The pictures produced by the camera units are fully configurable, with a maximum resolution of 640x480 pixels, and maximum frame rate of 30fps.
The camera units can be installed indoors, or outdoors within a custom-made fully weatherproof enclosure.
For harsher environments, an internal heater can also be installed within the weatherproof enclosure.
The images from the cameras can be viewed using a standard web browser (with a plug-in provided by the camera itself when a user connects to it), or can be viewed using the camera viewing and recording software supplied with the units.
The images can be embedded seamlessly within a web page, and can be configured for open access (e.g. for use as a publicly accessible webcam) or can be limited to registered users for security applications.
The cameras can be powered via the RJ45 network interface using proprietory PoE (Power over Ethernet) adaptors. This enables easier installation in areas that are not in close proximity to mains electrical supply sockets, or in areas where such power outlets are in publicly accessible areas.
For the ultimate in remote control operation, the camera units can be supplied with a PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) system, so that the camera can be moved and zoomed remotely over the Internet.
The images from the cameras can be recorded on a computer using the proprietory software supplied with the units.
When used as security devices, the cameras can be configured to trigger when they detect a change in the scene that they are viewing, or when an external alarm system is tripped. The sensitivity threshold of the trigger can be adjusted.
Once a trigger condition has been activated, they can send a series of still pictures as image attachments to one or more email addresses, or FTP the images to a specified server.
In this way the cameras can provide near-instantaneous alerts via email to the relevant people.
Network routers
Network routers installed by SceneGuard are manufactured specifically for the UK or European market, as appropriate. They offer superior security enhancements over most commercially available routers, with a full SPI (stateful packet inspection) firewall, and a range of accessibility and encryption features.
The routers have full VPN (virtual private networking) capability, being able to host VPN connections (most routers described as having VPN capability can only pass through VPN network traffic, and rely on a host machine on the internal LAN to initiate the VPN tunnel).
The routers also come with options of a wireless network access point, and even generic VoIP (voice over IP) functionality, allowing standard telephone handsets to be plugged into the units to receive VoIP calls over the Internet, without the need for any VOIP software on PCs inside the LAN.
PCs
All PCs provided by SceneGuard are custom-built to order by
QNet Computer Services (our parent company). We know exactly what is inside them and how they perform, and ensure they are perfectly matched for their intended applications.
